- Help shape the future direction of Auckland’s transport system
- Intermediate level opportunity in a highly collaborative team
- Hybrid role with flexible working and option to purchase an extra week of leave
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Transport is critical to Auckland’s future. Decisions made today about the future shape of Auckland’s transport system will impact on the success of the city and the well-being of Aucklanders for decades to come.
We are looking for a Transport Advisor to join a team of experienced transport professionals. This is a fantastic intermediate level opportunity to work with, and learn from people who are passionate about the role transport has to play in the future success of Auckland. We seek applicants who are looking to build a career working on some of the most critical questions for Auckland including:
- what should Auckland’s future transport network look like?
- how should investment in the transport network be targeted to achieve the best outcomes for Auckland?
- how can transport support Auckland’s prosperity?
- how should transport shape and respond to Auckland’s growth?
- how can we encourage more Aucklanders to use public transport and active modes?
- how can we significantly reduce transport emissions while improving safety and reducing congestion?
- how can we get more out of the existing transport network?
- how can we improve access and transport equity for all Aucklanders?
Over time you’ll be expected to research and present strategic and well evidenced advice to elected members and senior managers on all these issues and more. To do so, you’ll need to form productive relationships with colleagues from within the Transport Strategy Team, other parts of council, Auckland Transport, central government, Māori and other stakeholders.
He kōrero mōu: About you
This is an intermediate level role. We are looking for applicants who are able to demonstrate a strong interest in, and have some knowledge of transport and urban issues. The ability to build productive work relationships is critical to this role, as is your ability to clearly communicate complex ideas.
Above all else, a genuine passion and interest in the future of Auckland and its transport system is essential for your success in this role.
