We are searching for a Fixed Term (18 months) Construction Supervisor to join our Nelson-based civil construction team. Main Responsibilities – Construction Site Supervision
- Lead, supervise, and motivate teams on-site to achieve project milestones safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
- Coordinate daily operations, allocate resources, and schedule tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times.
- Interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings to guide work and resolve technical queries.
- Maintain effective communication with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Identify and proactively address issues, risks, or changes in project scope and provide timely reporting on progress.
- Support team development through mentoring, training, and promoting an inclusive, positive work environment.
- Ensure plant, equipment, and materials are available and used safely and efficiently on-site.
Skills, Experience, and Attributes Needed for Successful Construction Supervision
- Proven experience in a civil construction site supervisor or foreperson role, preferably in New Zealand.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, safety procedures, and industry best practices.
- Confident leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and develop people from all backgrounds.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities with a focus on delivering quality outcomes.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, both written and verbal.
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1) is required.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand is essential.
