Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square right? That’s us!

With 300+ stores and over 24,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Maui, our North Island Co-op has the privilege of helping New Zealanders get more out of life. Locally owned, we reflect the communities we serve, and we celebrate our people - our taonga, every day for being uniquely them.

Te Tūranga – About the role

As Head of Compliance, you’ll lead the delivery of strategic and operational compliance services across Foodstuffs North Island and its Members. Reporting to the General Counsel, you'll be responsible for ensuring strong governance, managing regulatory risk, and embedding an effective compliance culture. This role plays a key part in shaping our future capability — enhancing systems, frameworks, and team resources to support a modern, risk-aware business.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders and the Audit & Risk Committee to provide assurance, influence key decisions, and drive alignment across multiple compliance functions, while keeping pace with emerging legislation.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead the evolution of the FSNI Compliance Framework across the business and Member network.
  • Provide strategic advice and assurance to the Executive, Board, and Audit & Risk Committee on compliance and risk.
  • Design and maintain compliance policies, registers, and risk controls.
  • Drive the development of systems, tools, and training to support compliance capability uplift.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and build a proactive monitoring system to identify and mitigate compliance risks, potentially before they turn into incidents and/or breaches.
  • Foster collaboration across internal teams (legal, audit, safety, risk) and external stakeholders.
  • Represent FSNI on governance groups and support legal innovation, including the adoption of compliance technologies.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and be known for promoting a culture of integrity within the organisation.
