Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Payroll Adviser to join the Payroll Team. This is a permanent, full-time position.
The Payroll Adviser will provide customer focused, efficient and effective payroll administration, processing and advisory service by carrying out the day-to-day tasks required in the accurate and timely preparation of payroll wage and salary payments.
Key responsibilities:
- Prioritise and manage workflow and deadlines to ensure that all timings are achieved, and the fortnightly payroll inputs processed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Review, analyse and complete complex pay calculations.
- Review and verify payroll checking reports for accuracy, providing necessary adjustments or corrections through established processes.
- Respond to customer queries in a professional, timely, accurate and helpful manner.
- Keep up to date with current legislative requirements and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures to interpret, understand impact and provide advice as a Subject Matter Expert and provide payroll advice to assist with business decisions.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will have demonstrated Operational Payroll experience in a large and complex organisation with proven experience in the delivery of high-quality customer service and payroll tasks including accurate data entry and checking.
Key requirements:
- At least 3 years payroll experience in a large and complex organisation.
- Experience using payroll systems to an advanced level.
- Have an understanding of ACC Injury Management.
- Ability to work under pressure and within a deadline driven environment.
- Practical knowledge and application of current employment and pay related legislation such as the Employment Relations Act, Holidays Act, Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act.
