Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Senior Payroll Administrator to join the Payroll Team.
The Senior Payroll Administrator will provide a customer focused, efficient and effective payroll administration, processing and advisory service by carrying out the day-to-day tasks required in the accurate preparation, completion, maintenance and investigation of payroll matters.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for running multiple pay groups, processing all pay period payment schedules.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of payroll accounts to balance sheet, preparation of PAYE and ACC returns and superannuation schemes.
- Prioritise and manage workflow and deadlines to ensure that all timings are achieved and the fortnightly payruns are processed in a timely manner.
- Review and verify payroll checking reports for accuracy, providing necessary adjustments or corrections through established processes.
- Build an awareness of seasonal workload requirements and plan accordingly.
- Respond to customers queries in a professional, timely, accurate and helpful manner.
- Keep up to date with current legislative requirements and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures to interpret, understand impact and provide advice as a Subject Matter Expert and provide payroll advice to assist with business decisions.

You will have demonstrated Senior Payroll experience in a large and complex organisation with proven experience in the delivery of high-quality customer service and managing end-to-end payroll processes.
Key requirements:
- At least 5 years payroll experience in a large and complex organisation.
- Experience using payroll systems to an advanced level.
- Ability to work under pressure and within a deadline driven environment.
- Practical knowledge and application of current employment and pay related legislation. such as the Employment Relations Act, Holidays Act, Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act.
