We are seeking a Supervisor to oversee teams working in kiwifruit orchards, with a specific focus on occupational health and safety compliance.
Key responsibilities:
· Supervise kiwifruit orchard operations, ensuring adherence to productivity targets and health and safety regulations
· Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and tools to confirm compliance with industry safety standards and serviceability requirements
· Monitor worker practices to ensure correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of agrichemicals and tools
· Conduct worksite checks to detect potential hazards, improperly stored materials, or unsafe working conditions
· Maintain and manage health and safety registers, incident logs, and hazard reports
· Deliver and support regular safety briefings and toolbox meetings with crews
· Provide on-the-job coaching to team members on health and safety procedures and proper work methods
· Liaise with management, team leaders and others regarding safety and operational requirements
· Assist with investigating accidents and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
Requirements:
· 2 years relevant/transferable work experience
· Excellent understanding of health and safety in rural settings (knowledge will be tested at interview)
· Physically fit and enjoy working outdoors
· Willing to work on weekends, particularly during peak periods
· Willing to complete regular, random drug tests
· Clear police record
Pay rate:
$30 to $32 p/h depending on experience.
Hours:
As this is a full-time position, you will be guaranteed a minimum 30 hours per week but will likely be required to work approximately 40-50 hours per week.
