The Opportunity
We’re looking for someone energetic, community-minded, and ready to take initiative to join our team at Gore District Council. If you’re passionate about helping others, enjoy variety in your work, and want to contribute to meaningful projects, this could be the perfect role for you.
As Community Development Coordinator, you’ll help deliver programmes and initiatives that support community wellbeing, youth employment, economic development, and events that bring people together. You’ll work closely with a supportive team and engage with a wide range of stakeholders to make Gore a great place to live.
In addition to the above, you will:
- Support community development initiatives that promote inclusion and wellbeing
- Assist with economic development projects aligned with Council goals
- Help young people find employment and support their journey
- Deliver initiatives that support older adults to stay active and connected
- Plan and deliver Council-led events such as the Santa Parade, Parks Week, and more
- Engage with community groups and stakeholders to ensure collaborative planning
- Perform administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and record keeping
- Contribute to strategic planning and reporting
- Represent Council at community meetings and events
- Work occasional evenings and weekends as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Solid IT and planning capabilities
- A genuine passion for community engagement and development
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when needed
- Applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand
