As part of the Government's reset of the science, innovation and technology system, on 1 July 2025, AgResearch, Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research, Plant & Food Research, and Scion merged to form the New Zealand Institute for Bioeconomy Science, trading as the Bioeconomy Science Institute.

This position sits under the current Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research (MWLR) group of the Bioeconomy Science Institute.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
As a Portfolio Coordinator, you will support the smooth and efficient running of a Science Group by enabling the Science Group Leadership (Science Group Manager, Portfolio Leader, Group Programme Manager) to focus on science leadership and strategy, and by supporting management and delivery of the Science Group's research. You will drive effective project administration and business processes that are key to project management and delivery.
This is a permanent, full-time position that reports to the Business Support Manager.
Ō pūmanawa | About you
You'll bring a strong background in project administration or coordination, ideally from a research environment. Whether through formal qualifications or experience, you'll have solid skills in project support and using financial (ERP) systems. Experience or training in business administration would also be beneficial.
You are a problem-solver, highly organised, calm under pressure, and great at juggling multiple tasks. You have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working with a wide range of people. Your attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality and professionalism make you someone others trust to get the job done—efficiently and thoughtfully.
