The opportunity:
Dunedin City's roads and streets are changing with lower speeds now implemented near all schools and more people cycling and scooting for everyday trips. To help with that, we are looking for an experienced and pro-active professional to join our team in this fixed term opportunity to lead the school travel planning programme for Dunedin City.
As a School Travel Plan Coordinator, you will be working with schools and the community to ensure the safe use of Dunedin city transport networks with a specific focus on safe and active travel to and from school. You will lead the development of the Move It! Schools Programme and deliver initiatives to encourage more children to scoot, cycle and walk to and from school every day.
You will be part of the transport planning and transport strategy team and there will be opportunity for you to become involved in the wide range of activities that are delivered within these teams. This may include Road Safety promotion initiatives or supporting infrastructure projects to improve safety and travel choices and organising communication and engagement activities.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- knowledge and understanding of road safety, behaviour change and travel demand management issues and opportunities in Dunedin
- excellent communication and coordination skills
- experience in managing the development and delivery of community focused programmes
- knowledge and understanding in a Transport Planning or Transport Engineering environment
