About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Transport Operations Manager to join our dynamic team based in Milton. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take the reins of Calder Stewart’s transport operations - managing the use of trucks, trailers, and drivers to enable efficient delivery of goods and equipment to our project sites and divisions across New Zealand.
Reporting to the Plant and Logistics Manager, you will play a key role in scheduling, resource utilisation, and overseeing the safe, effective delivery of materials. This role requires excellent communication, leadership, and the ability to plan and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

This role suits someone with a proactive mindset and a calm, logical approach to decision-making. You will need to be confident leading a team, solving problems on the go, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
About you
- Proven experience in a transport or logistics management role
- Strong knowledge of NZTA regulations and permitting requirements
- Sound understanding of financials including P&L, budgets, and balance sheets
- Ability to think creatively to solve problems and address potential service issues
- Forward thinking, with the ability to identify efficiencies and improvements
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- Practical knowledge of the construction industry and the products we transport is highly desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent analytical and decision-making
- Ability to lead, coach and support a small team of drivers
- Class 4 or 5 licence, and F endorsement (forklift) desirable
